WOMAN SEIZED IN AMHERST FACES MULTIPLE COUNTS

A Buffalo woman was arrested on eight charges, including prostitution, after she was accused of biting and kicking an Amherst police officer and swallowing a small amount of cocaine during an incident inside a Main Street motel over the weekend.

Police accused Ulpenda Miles, 31, of East Ferry Street, of biting Officer Brian Kern in the hand and kicking him in the thigh during the disturbance early Saturday morning inside the Travelodge Motel at 3612 Main St.

Miles was charged with second-degree assault, felony drug possession, tampering with evidence, resisting arrest, prostitution and three other charges, police said. Michael Tagliarino, 39, of Springville, was charged with drug possession and patronizing a prostitute, according to police reports.
