GROUP TO LAUNCH DRIVE TO PUSH SUPPORT FOR ARTS

A nonprofit arts group plans to launch a nationwide campaign today to enlist 100,000 "citizen activists" to promote arts-friendly public policies and to help raise money.

Americans for the Arts plans to unveil its campaign at a news conference headlined by playwright Wendy Wasserstein at a Broadway theater.

The campaign is part of the organization's Arts Action Fund, created last month to improve communication between arts groups and the media, evaluate elected officials and train Americans to help promote the arts.
