I couldn't help but notice the "grungy" appearance of Bills quarterback J.P. Losman in a recent News photo. As a spokesman for a professional organization, giving a motivational talk at a Buffalo public school, his manner of dress sent a negative message.
I certainly applaud Losman for volunteering his time for such a worthy cause, extolling the benefits of healthy eating and daily exercise. But his wardrobe projected an image all too common among many students. He may not feel comfortable in a suit and tie, but to speak in front of hundreds of students dressed as he was did not project a professional image.
Yes, I know he is a rookie. But I certainly think the Bills Community Relations Department would have some input on dress code guidelines when players appear as ambassadors, both for the Bills and the NFL.
Schools are constantly striving to raise the standards when it relates to the dress code of their students. I hope in the future that the Bills players will follow "suit."
