WOMAN ADMITS STEALING IDENTITY IN FRAUD CASE

A woman who used the name and Social Security number of her husband's ex-wife to pile up $14,400 in credit card bills pleaded guilty in Niagara County Court this week.

Elizabeth A. Poletto, 45, of Fairmont Avenue, North Tonawanda, is to be sentenced on a reduced charge of attempted first-degree identity theft Jan. 11 by Judge Sara Sheldon Sperrazza.

Assistant District Attorney Charles F. Pitarresi said Poletto victimized the woman with fraudulent charges between December 2002 and March of this year. He said Poletto bought furniture, clothing and other household items and also paid off some old debts.
