Eleanor E. Szary of Depew died Thursday in Sisters Hospital after a brief illness. She was 77.
Born Eleanor Kuberski in Buffalo, she was a graduate of Girls Vocational High School. At one time, she worked as a nurse's aide and in dietary services in Kings Manor.
She was very active in St. Barnabas Catholic Church and she assisted with students and events at St. Mary's School for the Deaf.
Mrs. Szary was also a member, since 1959, and former junior vice president of the Ladies Auxillary of the Pvt. Leonard Post Jr. Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
She enjoyed crocheting and bingo.
Her husband of 52 years, Leonard, died in 2000.
Survivors include a daughter, Diana Raguso of Depew; a son, Brian of Depew; a sister, Florence Baranowski of Cheektowaga; a brother, Edward Kuberski of Depew; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Barnabas Church, 2049 George Urban Blvd., Depew, preceded by prayers at 9:45 in Pacer Funeral Home, 2275 George Urban Blvd. Burial will be in St. Adalbert's Cemetery, Lancaster.
