Mary E. McIntyre of Clarence, a retired insurance broker, died unexpectedly Monday in Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, Amherst. She was 86.
Born Mary Bruce in Buffalo, Mrs. McIntyre grew up in the city and lived in Eggertsville before moving to Clarence about 45 years ago. She graduated from East High School and attended Bryant & Stratton Business Institute and Canisius College.
She was a broker at the family's Ray E. McIntyre Insurance of Clarence, retiring in 1984.
Mrs. McIntyre was a member and past district deputy of the Order of the Eastern Star; a member and past queen of the Athor Temple, Daughters of the Nile; a past president of the Clarence Contemporary Club; and a member of the advisory board for the Clarence Teen Center.
She enjoyed gardening and traveling.
Her husband, Ray E., died in 1987.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Ellen McManamon of Bay Village, Ohio, and Ann Elizabeth Fillion of Las Vegas; a son, R. Douglas of Clarence; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held today in Beach-Tuyn Funeral Home, Williamsville.
