The re-election of President Bush is not only a tragedy for the United States but for the whole world. On the global scale, it means continuation of an arrogant and confrontational foreign policy, alienation from the world community, disregard for international treaties, the United Nations and international law, and a rise in militarism.
On the domestic front, it means four more years of corporate rule, a growing gap in wealth distribution between the haves and have-nots, a growing deficit due to the war and tax giveaways, a destructive energy policy, neglect of social issues, scientific and political misinformation and environmental neglect. Weep beloved country.
