Three teenagers were treated for serious injuries Thursday after the car they were riding in hit a tree, Erie County Sheriff's Department officials reported.
Deputies said Jason Thorn, 18, of Arcade, was driving the car south on Four Rod Road in Marilla at about 3:30 p.m. when the vehicle went off the side of the road and struck a mailbox and then a tree.
Thorn and two passengers, Brian Holland, 19, of Delevan, and Shane Lucart, 17, of Holland, had to be extricated from the vehicle.
Both Thorn and Holland were in ECMC's intensive care unit this morning in serious condition. Lucart was listed in fair condition.
Thorn was taken by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center with shoulder and head injuries.
Holland and Lucart were taken to ECMC by Rural/Metro Medical Services and the Jamison Road Fire Company. Holland suffered internal injuries, and Lucart had a broken hand and fractured leg.
Police said speed appears to be a factor in the crash.
