Five teenagers were hurt when their sport utility vehicle careened out of control at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday on Drum Road near Allentown, west of Wellsville.

State troopers at Belvidere said Bruce Wilson, 14, of Bolivar, suffered broken ribs and bruised lungs when he was thrown from the vehicle. He was flown to Women and Children's Hospital, Buffalo, troopers said.

Kyle Ahrens of Bolivar, who suffered a head cut when he was thrown from the vehicle, was admitted to Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville.

Troopers said Chelsea Smyers, 17, of Richburg, lost control of the vehicle approaching a curve too fast and went off the road, flipping the vehicle several times.

Troopers said she, Brandon Clark, 16, and Eric Button, 13, both of Bolivar, were treated in Jones Memorial and released.

Smyers was charged with failing to keep right, speeding, two seat belt violations for passengers not buckled in and unlicensed operation.
