NAPLES' REFUSAL TO CONCEDE RACE COMES AS NO SURPRISE

After running a campaign attacking her opponent instead of offering a substantive vision for this area, it should come as no surprise that on Election Night, when it became clear that Nancy Naples would not win, she halted the democratic process of counting absentee votes. Hiring lawyers to file an injunction in the middle of the night, with no substantiated evidence of voter fraud, not only undermines the democratic process and integrity of the people working elections, but feeds on the division and arrogance associated with politics that has alienated so many Americans.

I take solace that once the vote counting resumes, we will send to Washington a person who not only has a vision for revitalizing Buffalo's greatest asset -- the waterfront -- but also has a record of delivering on the real issues that effect the people he represents. Brian Higgins did it in Albany and we are truly lucky to know that he will do it in Washington.
