Buffalo police today were searching for four men wanted for a gunpoint home invasion that occurred at about 9 a.m. Tuesday at 228 W. Delavan Ave., police said.
Police said one of the men knocked on the door and then forced his way inside, accompanied by three other men. One of the intruders held two people at gunpoint while the others robbed and beat another person, police said.
The bandits took $4,500 in cash, a gold bracelet, credit cards and identification, police said.
That afternoon, police traced the suspected license plate of the robbers' get-away car, located the vehicle and interviewed the car owner.
The search led them to a West Avenue home where they were unable to gain entry. Members of the department's SWAT Team and hostage negotiators responded, and about five people were taken away in handcuffs. Det. Sgt. Philip Torre of the Major Crimes Unit said today that none of them was arrested because the victims could not identify them as the robbers.
