COCAINE POSSESSION NETS 5 YEARS' PROBATION, FINE

A Hartland man avoided jail time on a cocaine possession charge Tuesday before Niagara County Judge Peter L. Broderick Sr.

William R. Snell, 36, of Ridge Road, had pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of attempted fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He had 820 milligrams of cocaine in Royalton March 17.

Broderick placed Snell on probation for five years, fined him $500 and ordered him to serve 15 weekends in the county work program.
