Patrick Carpentier will drive for Red Bull Cheever Racing in the Indy Racing League next season and Toyota will supply the team's engines, a source close to the team told the Associated Press.

Carpentier will make the switch from the rival Champ Car World Series, joining holdover driver Alex Barron, and Toyota will replace Chevrolet as the team's engine supplier, the source said, speaking on condition of anonymity.

In London, meanwhile, it was announced that the British and French Grand Prix races will be on the calendar next season after team directors reached a deal with Formula One chief executive Bernie Ecclestone.

Both races were under threat for next season after race promoters failed to come to financial terms with Ecclestone.
