Police are investigating reports that former tenants who had been evicted returned to a Grand Avenue home Saturday and caused widespread damage throughout the building, which currently is vacant.
Neighbors reported having a confrontation with two former residents in which threats were made. When police investigated, they went into the home and found extensive water damage, torn rugs and damaged ceiling tiles.
Dead animals were found in the basement and in the walls, according to police. A clothes dryer appeared to have been shot, probably with a 9 mm handgun, police said.
The former residents had been evicted about a month ago, police said.
