St. Bonaventure University will hold an academic convocation and reception Nov. 16 to honor the late Rev. Ignatius Brady, a Franciscan scholar and longtime faculty member, and a member of St. John the Baptist Province of Friars Minor.

The province, based in Cincinnati, will announce at the convocation the creation of a $1 million endowment established to honor Brady's memory.

The academic convocation will begin at 4 p.m. in the Quick Center for the Arts on St. Bonaventure's campus. The Rev. Michael Blastic will offer an appreciation of Brady, one of the 20th century's leading scholars of medieval Franciscan thought. Jacques Dalarun, a medievalist and visiting professor at Bona's Franciscan Institute, will give a lecture.

Brady was active in teaching, research and ministry for more than 40 years, in this country and overseas. He taught at Bona's Franciscan Institute in the 1940s and 1950s.

For reservations to the convocation and reception, call Jude Ann Yehl at 375-2595 by Wednesday.
