Samuel T. Corey of Buffalo, retired owner of Kwik Shop markets, died Thursday in Newfane Nursing Home, Newfane, after a brief illness. He was 85.
A native of West Haven, Conn., he had lived in the Buffalo area since 1928. He was a graduate of Hutchinson-Central High School.
He served with the Army as an aircraft engineer mechanic during World War II.
Mr. Corey enjoyed golfing, swimming and tennis and loved camping.
Survivors include his wife, Rosa P. of Buffalo; seven daughters, Patricia Joersz of Golden, Colo., Christine Downen of the Town of Tonawanda, Jacqueline Mikulec of Newfane, Joanne Wojak of Denver, Roberta Pache of Clarence, Michelle Comfort of Wilson and Colleen Kowalewski of Las Vegas; four sons, Samuel T. Jr. of Santa Anna, Calif., Mark of Buffalo, Michael of the Town of Tonawanda, and John of Clarence; two sisters, Elizabeth Snow of Philadelphia and Gloria Lorber of the Town of Tonawanda; 21 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Prayers will be said at 8:45 a.m. Monday in Amigone Funeral Home, 2600 Sheridan Drive, Town of Tonawanda, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 1085 Englewood Ave., Town of Tonawanda.
