Finally, a "new urbanism" model for an Erie County park will become a reality. The Ciminelli Development plan calls for a 330-acre parcel that will bring together more than 1 million square feet of commercial, retail and residential units that is designed to marry the concept "live, work, play and recreate."
Tom Kucharski, president and CEO of Buffalo Niagara Enterprise, applauded the project, stating this is exactly what our area needs.
My question to Kucharski is: Why is the development happening in Muir Woods in Amherst? This should be on our waterfront! What better way is there to end 50 years of an absence of waterfront development and add tax revenue to a downtown that employs mostly state and federal employees?
