BISONS UP, BELLY SHIRTS DOWN

I would like to respond to last week's Bucky Gleason column regarding Western New York's sporting events. Why diminish the Bisons championship because your "idea of baseball in Buffalo is hot dogs, beer and belly shirts." I attend many Bison games and see many families enjoying Kids Day, the Friday fireworks, the senior citizens arriving by bus to play bingo and enjoy baseball on Thursday afternoons, the kids getting autographs, and children of all ages running the bases as their proud parents catch this event on film.

I also attended the Bisons' championship party with at least 5,000 in attendance as we thanked Bob and Mindy Rich and the entire organization for bringing the championship to Buffalo. If The Buffalo News had sent a reporter to this celebration instead of a photographer, The News could have reported how Western New York families thanked our Bisons.

So Bucky, keep your cheap shots out of the newsprint and open a tavern where there are "hot dogs, beer and belly shirts."
