Thomas J. Peffer Jr., a retired events management director, died Oct. 23 in Heathwood Skilled Nursing Facility, Amherst, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 69.
Born and raised in Amherst, he was a graduate of Buffalo State College and earned his master's degree in education from the University at Buffalo. He served in the Army Reserve.
He worked at Buffalo State College for about 35 years, retiring in the mid-1990s as events management director.
Mr. Peffer was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society, United University Professionals, the Buffalo State College Alumni Association, the Bengal Club, Delta Kappa fraternity, and the Casa Savoy Gang.
He also was a member of the executive board of Blooming Hills in Freedom, and the executive board of the Elmwood Small Businessman's Association.
Surviving are a son, Thomas III of Buffalo, and a daughter, Catherine Jane, also of Buffalo.
A memorial service was held Friday in Schlager Funeral Home, 4614 Main St., Snyder.
