A memorial service for Clabon B. Townsel Jr., a groundskeeper for Erie County, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Lombardo Funeral Home, 102 Linwood Ave.
The Buffalo native died Tuesday in Erie County Medical Center after a long illness. He was 50.
A graduate of Emerson High School, he was a groundskeeper for Erie County for over 20 years. He received a certificate of appreciation of exemplary service from the county for his work.
Mr. Townsel enjoyed bicycling and playing the lottery, and was a member of the Wohlers community group.
He was a member of White Rock Baptist Church, from which he received the Friends and Community Award this year.
He is survived by his longtime companion, Tanya Richard; two daughters, Christina and Jessica; three sisters, Gwendolyn Menifee, Clorinda and Jackie; and his grandmother, Jenny Carter, all of Buffalo.
