Emily Butler Beale, a homemaker, died Wednesday at home after a long illness. She was 100.

Born in Sparrows Point, Md., she moved to Lackawanna as an infant with her family. She attended public schools.

A homemaker, Mrs. Beale was known for her pound cakes and rolls.

A former member of Michigan Street Baptist Church and First Shiloh Baptist Church, she joined Lincoln Memorial United Methodist Church, where she often sang in the choir and played the piano during the Lenten season.

Her husband of 54 years, Joseph L., died in 1978.

Survivors include a daughter, Mamie B. Johnson of Buffalo; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Lincoln Memorial United Methodist Church, 641 Masten Ave. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn.
