The Buffalo Regals Pee Wee Major team went undefeated in winning the Markham Islanders AAA Fall Hockey Classic in late October.

In the qualifying round of the tournament held in the Toronto suburb of Markham, Ont. the Regals beat the St. Lawrence Kings, the Gloucester Rangers and the Canton Crush to advance to the semifinals.

There, they beat Canton again, 6-2, to reach the championship game. In the final, goalie Peter Dudek Jr. of Cheektowaga made 21 saves to earn game MVP honors as the Regals beat the Kanata Blazers of Ottawa, 3-1. Matthew Benedict of Hamburg scored the winning goal.

Two Regals forwards twice won game MVP awards in the tournament, including Matthew Grazon of Clarence (four goals) and Vinny Vertalino of Hamburg (two goals, two assists).

The Buffalo Bandits Brigade, the official fan club of the National Lacrosse League's Bandits, will throw a preseason bash on Saturday at the Cobblestone, South Park Avenue and Mississippi Street, near HSBC Arena. BASKETBALL: The Queen City Classics girls AAU club seeks players for the 2005 teams in the 10, 11 and 12-under divisions.
