Vacation opportunities, golf at area country clubs, sports memorabilia, dining certificates, and tickets to events and theaters are among items to go up for bid at the fourth annual auction to be sponsored by the Police Athletic League of Buffalo from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 18 in Salvatore's Italian Gardens. Lindy Ruff, head coach of the Buffalo Sabres, is honorary chairman and Danny Gare, former Sabres all-star forward, will be the auctioneer. Howard Smith, executive sports editor of The Buffalo News, and Russell Salvatore are chairmen of the event to benefit PAL programs for structured, supervised leisure-time activities for nearly 20,000 area youth annually. Tickets at $50 include an open bar and food stations and may be purchased by calling the PAL at 884-9681.
