Marita Kelly of Depew, a longtime Erie County Medical Center employee, died Monday in Hospice Buffalo, Cheektowaga, after a long battle with ovarian cancer. She was 50.
Born in Buffalo, she attended Immaculate Heart of Mary School and was a 1972 graduate of Kensington High School. She earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University at Buffalo.
Ms. Kelly joined ECMC as an accountant in 1975 and later was an administrative assistant to the director of emergency services.
A devoted sports fan, she skied, played softball and volleyball and had a special passion for golf. She was former president of the ECMC Golf League. She enjoyed reading and named her cats Simon and Schuster.
She was a member of St. Amelia's Catholic Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Patricia Dean of the Town of Tonawanda and Eileen Crosby of Wellesley Island, and a brother, James J. of Silver Spring, Md.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered today in St. Amelia's Church, Town of Tonawanda. Burial was in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
