A former accountant for a West Seneca business pleaded guilty Wednesday to embezzling $123,000 from the company.
Under federal sentencing guidelines, Mary Meinhold Converse, 42, of St. Augustine, Fla., faces a prison term of 12 to 18 months.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Gretchen Wylegala said Converse stole the money over a four-month period in 2001 while working for Visteon Climate Control in West Seneca. Converse admitted that she cashed a number of checks that were sent to the company and put the money in her bank account.
Converse is a former West Seneca resident, Wylegala said. Her case was investigated by Buffalo FBI agents. U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny accepted the plea deal.
