CLARA A. GABRIEL, RECREATION DIRECTOR
AUG. 7, 1930 -- NOV. 2, 2004

Clara A. Gabriel, a former beautician and recreation director of Niagara Falls, died Tuesday in Mount St. Mary's Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 74.

Born Clara Belloni in Scranton, Pa., she moved to Niagara Falls as a child.

She was a graduate of Niagara Falls High School and had an associate's degree from Niagara County Community College.

Mrs. Gabriel worked as recreation director for Niagara Falls parks for 10 years.

She was a longtime parishioner of St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church, Niagara Falls.

Her husband, Pat A., died in 1974.

Survivors include a son, Mark J. Gabriele of Lewiston; a daughter, Caroline Pofi of Wheatfield; and four grandchildren.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated at noon Friday in St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus Church, College and Macklem avenues, Niagara Falls.
