Buffalo Bisons shortstop Jhonny Peralta was named to receive the George M. Trautman Award as the Topps/International League Player of the Year by Minor League Baseball.

Peralta had been named the International League Most Valuable Player, the first Bison to take the honor since Ted Savage in 1961, as well as the league's all-star shortstop. He was also the Bisons' Stan Barron Most Valuable Player for 2004.

During the season, Peralta led the IL with 181 hits and 109 runs scored. His 44 doubles were second in the league. All three marks were modern era Bisons records. He finished the season with the fourth-best batting average (.326) in the league and ranked in the top 10 in extra-base hits (61), RBIs (86) and on-base percentage (.384).
