MAN KILLED BY TRAIN IS IDENTIFIED BY POLICE

A 30-year-old St. Catharines man was identified as the person who was struck and killed by a train Friday in St. Catharines, Niagara Regional Police reported.

Michael Vanderwyk was walking east along the north side of the train tracks near the Highway 406 train overpass in St. Catharines at about 7:30 p.m., when he was struck by an eastbound Via Rail passenger train.

Niagara Regional Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Vanderwyk's death.
