SUPERINTENDENT'S RELEASE DRAWING COMPLAINTS
The North Collins School Board's recent decision not to renew the contract of Superintendent Jack Mann is meeting resistance in the community.
North Collins business owner Robert Turnbull, a School Board member of 16 years, leads an organization opposed to the board's action, which he criticized as "one of the worst decisions in the history of North Collins School Boards."
Margaret Orrange, a former substitute teacher in the district who was on the committee that hired Mann, said, "He's done exactly what we hired him to do and has led the district financially as well as moving it forward toward the community." Town Supervisor Thomas O'Boyle agrees.
Mann declined to comment. School Board President Shannon Gawronski also declined to discuss the issue. The board meets Wednesday in the Library Media Center.
