A memorial service for Edith D. Cawthon of Amherst will be at noon Wednesday in Exodus Garden Funeral Home, 605 Masten Ave. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
Mrs. Cawthon died Thursday in Millard Fillmore Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was 77.
Born Diane Edith Parker in Sumter, S.C., she moved here as a child and attended School 75 and Hutchinson-Central High School. Mrs. Cawthon worked for the federal government in Washington, D.C., during World War II.
After returning to Buffalo, she began a 31-year career at Buffalo Psychiatric Center, where she worked in various capacities, including mental hygiene therapy aide. She retired in 1982.
Her husband, Carl, died in 2002.
Survivors include a daughter, Brenda of Amherst; two sisters, Eloise Brown and Myrtle Anderson, both of Amherst; two brothers, James Parker of Buffalo and Norbert Parker of Amherst; and a grandson.
