WILLIAM B. DELL, OWNED FURNITURE STORE

A memorial service for William B. Dell, former owner of a Buffalo furniture store, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Dietrich Funeral Home, 2480 Kensington Avenue, Snyder.

Dell died last Thursday (Feb. 22, 2001) in his Atlanta home after a brief illness. He was 82.

Born in Buffalo, Dell graduated from Riverside High School. He served as a Navy Seabee during World War II.

In 1947, Dell became a partner in the auction and used-furniture business that eventually became ABC Warehouse Furniture Co. in Buffalo. He worked in the business for 28 years before retiring in 1975 and moving to Atlanta.

He enjoyed sports, particularly bowling and golf, and was a hunter.

Dell is survived by his wife of five years, Dorothy; three daughters, Joan Nisbet of the Town of Tonawanda, Joyce Morris of Williamsville and Debra Filarecki of Freedom; five stepdaughters, Dottie Jean Potna of Oregon, Kim Carr of Buffalo, Judy Owens of Florida and Susan Grindstaff and Birdie Hoffman, both of Atlanta; two brothers, James of Cheektowaga and Calvin of Angelica; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
