FREDONIA -- Local cable TV officials hope to televise an upcoming hearing on proposed tax relief for the Dunkirk generating station, members of the Cable Television Advisory Board learned Monday night.
The Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency will hold a public hearing on the agreement at 7 p.m. April 4 in Dunkirk High School. Cable access officials from Fredonia and Dunkirk hope to cover the session.
Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. sold its generating station in Dunkirk to NRG Co., which is seeking tax relief through a schedule of payments in lieu of taxes.
Salvation Army offers Bible studies
JAMESTOWN -- The Salvation Army will hold Lenten luncheon Bible studies at noon Wednesdays through April 11 at its headquarters, 83 S. Main St.
The group has also launched a Web site at www.s-army.org as part of an effort to make information about its mission and services accessible to anyone with a connection to the Internet.
"The Salvation Army is ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need in Chautauqua County," said Ian Eastman, community relations director.
Funding for the Web site was provided in part by a grant from the county.
