Services for Floyd W. Payne, a retired steelworker, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Bates-Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl St.
Burial will be in Shelby Basin Cemetery.
Payne, 92, died Sunday (Feb. 25, 2001) in Orchard Manor Nursing Home, 600 Bates Road, after a brief illness.
Born in Cambria, Payne moved to Medina in 1930. He operated a family farm on Maple Road and also was a steelworker at Simonds Saw and Steel Co. in Lockport for more than 35 years before retiring in 1973.
Payne was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church, the Medina J.R. Wilsons Club, the Sacred Heart Club and the Medina Masonic Lodge. He was a social member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the North-South Skirmish Association, a Civil War re-enactment group.
He enjoyed fishing in his spare time.
His wife, Elva E. Sanderson Payne, died in 1984.
Survivors include three sons, Douglas I. of Ruskin, Fla., and Floyd E. "Ted" and Gary, both of Medina; a daughter, Barbara Padoleski of Medina; a sister, Lorraine Niles of Barker; a brother, Melvin "Corkey" of Ridgewood; 14 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
