Jason Couch compiled a 17-7 record in match play and led the qualifying for the finals of the PBA Tour's Villages Open, earning the top seed for the second straight week. Couch has been in first place this week for the last four rounds.
The 31-year-old left-hander had 10,102 total pins and finished 185 ahead of runner-up Chris Barnes, who was 16-8 with 9,917. Barnes started the day 13th but moved up to third in the afternoon and to second in the night matches.
Mike Aulby qualified third, Doug Kent fourth and Pete Weber fifth. The stepladder finals are scheduled outdoors today in Town Square of The Villages, a retirement community. The finals will be televised on tape Sunday on ESPN at 12:30 p.m.
