Royce S. Day of Eggertsville, former vice president of Dusing and Hunt Door Co. in Buffalo, died Sunday (Feb. 18, 2001) in Williamsville Suburban Health and Rehabilitation Center of illness related to a stroke he suffered in 1999. He was 97.
Born in Cherry Creek, Day grew up in Jamestown, graduated from Jamestown High School and worked for Art Metal before moving to Kenmore, where he lived for many years. For about the last 20 years, he lived in Eggertsville.
He retired in 1968 as vice president of Dusing and Hunt Door Co.
Day was an outdoorsman and for many years enjoyed fishing from his cottage on Chautauqua Lake. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles and had been a drummer in his younger years. He worshiped in Williamsville United Methodist Church and was a member of the church's Elderteens group.
Survivors include a sister, Martha Greendahl of Jamestown; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Williamsville United Methodist Church, 5681 Main St. Burial will be in Elmlawn Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda.
