John D. Huck Sr., 72, a retired plumbing and heating contractor, died Tuesday (Feb. 20, 2001) in Largo (Fla.) Medical Center after a brief illness.
A longtime Amherst resident, Huck operated Jack Huck Plumbing and Heating in Williamsville for 35 years until he sold the business in 1981. In 1986, he started another plumbing business, Third Generation Plumbing, with his son John D. Jr.
Born in Buffalo, Huck was a graduate of Williamsville High School and Bryant & Stratton Business Institute. He also attended the University of Buffalo. He served in the Army National Guard for seven years.
A sports fan, he played football in high school and enjoyed golf. He was a former member of Cherry Hill Country Club, Ridgeway, Ont.
Huck is survived by his wife of 45 years, the former Carol M. Stephens; four daughters, Cynthia Manfreda of Clarence, Lori Allwes of Amherst, Patricia Mancuso of the Town of Tonawanda and Jill Kennedy of Odessa, Fla.; two sons, John D. Jr. of Amherst and Timothy of Lockport; a sister, Doris Decker of Rochester; and 14 grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at noon Saturday in SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 5480 Main St., Williamsville. Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery, Williamsville.
