Evelyn M. Conahan-Baskwell, 78, who worked in the custodial department of the state Department of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation for 20 years, died Wednesday (Feb. 21, 2001) in Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Born Evelyn Conahan in Scranton, Pa., she moved to the Niagara Falls area in the mid-1940s.
She retired from her job at Goat Island and Whirlpool state parks in 1985.
Mrs. Conahan-Baskwell was active in St. John de LaSalle School and the Cub Scouts.
Her husband, Frank Baskwell, died in 1985.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Winker of Manchester, Conn., and Evelyn Baskwell-Gravino of Niagara Falls; a son, Frank of Niagara Falls; and three grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Friday in St. Mary of the Cataract Catholic Church, 259 Fourth St. Burial will be private.
