Charlene M. Sewar, 16, who had been a member of the pep squad at Williamsville North High School before recently transferring to Lockport High School, died Sunday (Feb. 18, 2001) of injuries suffered in a traffic accident Jan. 14 on Niagara Falls Boulevard, Amherst, that also took the lives of two of her friends.
She was born in Amherst, from which her family had recently moved, and had attended Dodge Elementary School and Casey Middle School.
She was a sophomore at Lockport High School.
She and her close friend, Amy DiNatale, attended services and participated in church plays at New Covenant Tabernacle in the Town of Tonawanda. Amy and Christopher Rogalski, students at Sweet Home High School, died at the scene of the accident.
Charlene is survived by her parents, Gerald and Cyndee, and two sisters, Holly and Wendy, all of Lockport; and her grandfather, Arthur W. Sewar Sr. of Fort Myers, Fla.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Prudden & Kandt Funeral Home, 242 Genesee St. Burial will be in Stahler Cemetery.
