Alice Holmlund, 95, a former Buffalo public school teacher and local amateur golf champion, died Saturday (Feb. 17, 2001) in Fairchild Manor Nursing Home, Lewiston, where she had been a patient for six years.

Miss Holmlund was born in Lyons, but her family moved to Buffalo in 1919, and she lived here until entering the nursing home.

Miss Holmlund taught third grade for more than 50 years, first at School 53 and then at School 82. She retired in 1969.

She won several club championships at Orchard Park Country Club and won other district golf titles throughout Western New York.

Miss Holmlund was a member of Parkside Lutheran Church.

Services will be private. Entombment will be in the columbarium of Parkside Lutheran Church, Wallace and Depew avenues.
