Harold "Jerry" Wilmarth, a former electrician at AL Tech Specialty Steel Corp. in Dunkirk, died Wednesday (Feb. 14, 2001) in Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dunkirk, after a short illness. He was 64.
A lifelong Fredonia resident, he worked at the Dunkirk plant, now known as Empire Specialty Steel, for 33 years before retiring in 1999. He was an Army veteran.
An outdoorsman and woodworker, he owned a Christmas tree farm in Fredonia for 10 years. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church and was active in the Souther Tier Prostate Group.
Survivors include his wife, the former Sandra Di Pietro; two sons, Steven J. of Fredonia and Andrew of Gastonia, N.C.; a daughter, Terry of Urbana, Ill.; and a sister, Phyllis Bernard of Harrisburg, Pa.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
