I attended a marvelous performance by Neglia Ballet Artists. After reading the review in the Feb. 11 News, it is hard to believe that the reviewer was sitting in the same theater as I was.
A standing ovation from the near-capacity audience is evidence that we indeed have something very special here. Obviously, The News chose to ignore the overall excellence of the evening's high-caliber performances, favoring instead to grasp at straws in search of negatives.
Buffalo is extremely fortunate to have such a superb core of fine classical dancers based here. Sergio Neglia himself studied at Russia's famed Bolshoi Ballet, has strong ties to Nureyev, Baryshnikov, Gudonov and Balanchine, and has performed as a member and guest artist with numerous dance companies across four continents.
Neglia Ballet Artists and the Neglia Conservatory of Ballet possess tremendous potential to become an internationally renowned dance company. This can happen with the support of accurate and objective reviewing and reporting.
