RIGID-FRAME CABIN

Building your own cabin is the most satisfying and affordable way to become the owner of a vacation home. For do-it-yourselfers who'd like a hand-crafted weekend retreat, here's a strong and economical rigid frame cabin project that's been popular for many years.

The secret of the cabin's strength lies in its "rigid frames," which depend on the principle of the arch and provide a wide, clear living space without interior posts.

For the standard cabin (20 feet by 24 feet, plus a 6-foot-deep covered deck), 13 arch-like rigid frames are used. The cabin can be lengthened by adding more frames, and windows are built only into the end walls.

The Rigid-Frame Cabin plan, No. 370, is $9.95.
