David R. Zahler, 55, a Buffalo native and Vietnam War veteran, died Monday (Feb. 12, 2001) in Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Houston.
Born Sept. 9, 1945, he graduated from Kenmore High School in 1963. He enlisted in the Air Force after graduation and served until 1967, including a tour of duty in Vietnam.
After the service, he moved to Texas, where he worked for Loral Space Information Systems and other NASA contractors.
He is survived by his wife, Marcy; his parents, Harry and Norma of Buffalo; two sisters, Toby Skorupski of Houston and Nancy of Trumansburg; two stepdaughters, Katherine Allen of Puerto Rico and Meghan MacKenna of Pearland, Texas; a stepson, Erik MacKenna of Pearland; and two stepgrandchildren.
A celebration of Zahler's life will be held Saturday in Pearland. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
