Leola Burns, a former Buffalo resident, died Jan. 29, 2001, in Blake Memorial Center, Bradenton, Fla., after a brief illness. She was 72.
A Buffalo native, the former Leola Keeler was a graduate of Kensington High School. She lived in Buffalo all her life until moving to Bradenton about 15 years ago.
Mrs. Burns enjoyed golfing and bowling and was a member of several golf and bowling leagues. She also enjoyed reading.
She is survived by her husband, Matthew J.; two daughters, Linda Cleary of the Town of Tonawanda, and Cheryll Ganser of Cheektowaga; four sons, Charles Erckert Jr. of Charleston, S.C., Richard and Brian Erckert, both of Buffalo, and Gerald Erckert of Bradenton; her mother, Geraldene Stiles of Bradenton; 16 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held Feb. 1 in Bradenton. A burial service will be scheduled in the Town of Tonawanda.
