Amherst

Meeting: The Amherst Recreation Commission meets; 4 p.m., Amherst Pepsi Center, 1615 Amherst Manor Drive.

Public information session: The Amherst Industrial and Commercial Incentive Board; 7 p.m., Town Hall, 5583 Main St., Williamsville. The board will discuss redevelopment assistance becoming available through the Amherst Industrial Development Agency.

Brant

Public hearing: Town Board will conduct a hearing on a proposal from Nextel Communications to co-locate a communications system on the Sprint communications tower on Milestrip Road; 8:15 p.m., Town Hall, 1294 Brant-North Collins Road.

Buffalo

Meeting: A recommended budget for Dunn Tire Park will be reviewed at a Common Council Finance Committee; 10 a.m., Council chambers, 13th floor of City Hall.

Cheektowaga

Meeting: The Sloan Village Board meets; 7 p.m., Village Hall, 425 Reiman St.

Elma

Meeting: The Zoning Board of Appeals meets; 8 p.m., Town Hall, 1910 Bowen Road.

Kenmore

Meeting: The Kenmore Village Board will hold a special meeting on the village's plans to reconstruct the sidewalks and underground utility lines on Crosby Avenue; 6:30 p.m., Municipal Building, 2919 Delaware Ave. Some residents are concerned that the village will be tearing down 100-year-old trees as part of the project. The village will be planting new trees in their place.

Slide program: A professor emeritus of the University of Louisville will present a slide program on "The Hall Bakery, and the Men and Wagons of the Era"; 7:30 p.m. Kenmore Community Center, 135 Wilber Ave. C. Eugene Miller and his brother, John E. Miller, a retired Town of Tonawanda resident, will talk about the Hall Bakery, founded at Main Street and Fillmore Avenue in Buffalo. The bakery was open from 1915 to 1967. The Millers will speak at a meeting of the Tonawanda-Kenmore Historical Society.. The public is invited to attend, and admission is free.

Lackawanna

Public hearing: The City of Lackawanna will hold a public hearing; 3 p.m., Council chambers, 714 Ridge Road. The City Comprehensive Plan, which will come before the Council on Feb. 20 for adoption, will be discussed. Copies of the plan and new zoning ordinances are available for view in Lackawanna Public Library and the Senior Citizens Center.

Orchard Park

Talk: Linda Lenning of the Buffalo Hearing and Speech Center will speak to the Southtowns Preschool PTA; 7 p.m., Eggert Elementary School cafeteria, 3580 Eggert Road. She will discuss the development of speech and hearing in preschoolers. For information, call 677-6628.

Meeting: The School Board meets; 7 p.m., South Davis Elementary School, 51 S. Davis St. The board is expected to act on the appointments of a construction management firm for a proposed new high school and of a firm to handle the environmental impact study.

City of Tonawanda

Meeting: The School Board will hold a budget advisory meeting; 6 p.m., administration office, 202 Broad St. It will hold a regular meeting at 7.
