Most outstanding wrestler Phil Smaldino of St. Francis was one of eight Red Raiders to win titles at the All-Catholic championships Sunday at St. Joe's.

Smaldino (119 pounds) was joined by winning Red Raiders Vinnie DeMarco (96), Tony Mangaro (112), Kiel Illg (125), Marc Milklos (135), Brandon Booker (171) and Andy Kurtzman (189).

The top three wrestlers in each class qualified for the New York State Catholic High School Athletic Association championships Sunday and Monday at Msgr. Farrell on Staten Island.

St. Francis was a winner on the basketball court as well, as four double-figure scorers and a 27-9 fourth quarter led the Red Raiders to a 68-48 win at St. Mary's of Lancaster. Greg Michalek led the way with 15 points while Pete Tardif and Mike Kubera each scored 11 and Brian Nash added 10.
