Jerry Sullivan stated in a recent article that Michael Peca is a winner! I don't see that at all. He has no Stanley Cup rings, he has no scoring titles, and hasn't had the best /- in the league. Peca had a less than average season last year and he is worried that will affect his contract if he goes to arbitration! Well, welcome to the real world, Peca, you are only as good as your last performance.
He is asking a lot for someone that doesn't score. His counterpart in Dallas, who has a Stanley Cup ring, is making $2.5 million a year. Lets face it -- the NHL is about who can score or make the big saves, not who is a great defenseman or defensive forward. All the top earning players get the big bucks for scoring and playmaking.
Furthermore the entire Sabres roster should be getting $4 million each if Peca does, because the last time I checked the stats it seems all of our forwards must be defensive specialists.
