Sylvester Wafers of Buffalo, a self-employed laborer and handyman, died Thursday (Feb. 8, 2001) at Grace Manor Nursing Facility in Buffalo after a long illness. He was 86.
Wafers, also known as Waples, was born in Harrington, Del., and moved to Buffalo in the 1950s. He lived on Riley Avenue for more than 20 years.
He enjoyed bingo, playing the guitar and was a cigar aficionado.
His wife, Georgia Barnes, died in 1998.
He is survived by a daughter, Christina Parks of Buffalo; a son, Robert Parks of Lithuania; and a brother, Wilbert of Cleveland.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in Memorial Chapel, 66 E. Utica St., Buffalo. Burial will be private.
