Harold P. Hodges, 44, an employee of Rich Products and active member of Calvary Baptist Church, died Wednesday (Feb. 7, 2001) in his Buffalo home after a brief illness.
A Buffalo native, Hodges attended Buffalo Public Schools, the Nichols School and Brockport State College.
He had been employed at Rich Products, where he formerly was a union steward, for about 12 years. While working at Rich Products, he also started a Bible Club with fellow employees.
At Calvary Baptist Church, Hodges was active in the Laymen's Ministry and taught Sunday school. He also volunteered to help homeless men at the Buffalo City Mission, was involved in street gang outreach, assisted the elderly and handicapped and worked on community revitalization.
He was athletic and taught physical fitness at the YMCA.
He is survived by his daughter, Brianna; his mother, Rita Massey; his former wife, Janet Amaro Hodges; a stepdaughter, Janice Coffey; a stepson, Bernard Amaro; and a sister, Marsha Thomas, all of Buffalo; and three brothers, Alfred of Columbia, S.C., Clarence of Buffalo and Edward of Memphis, Tenn.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today in Calvary Baptist Church, 1184 Genesee St. Burial will be in Forest Lawn.
