JAMESTOWN -- A North Main Street man is being held on drug-related charges in the Chautauqua County jail without bail after police raided his apartment.

Agents with the Southern Tier Regional Drug Task Force and city police allege Kenneth E. Bielat, 49, of 211 N. Main St., was selling marijuana from his apartment. Authorities said the Tuesday arrest concluded a monthlong investigation in which several undercover purchases were made.

Agents said Bielat was taken into custody without incident. They also found three ounces of bagged marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Bielat is charged with four counts of third-degree criminal sale of marijuana, and one count each of fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, criminal use of drug paraphernalia and unlawful possession of fireworks.

Woman escapes injury
after crash into bulldozer

FREDONIA -- A Silver Creek woman escaped serious injury Wednesday morning when her pickup truck crashed into a bulldozer that slid off a flatbed truck in the Town of Pomfret.

State police at Fredonia said the driver of the flatbed, James Koz-lowski, 42, of Fredonia, was turning from Route 60 onto Route 20 about 8:30 a.m., when the bulldozer shifted, sliding from the flatbed. The pickup, which was turning from Route 20 onto Route 60, crashed into it.

The driver of the pickup, Mary Domenico, 46, complained of back pain but refused treatment, state police said.

Kozlowski was ticketed for inadequately securing a load.
